WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!! AHHH!!! Can you tell I’m excited? 🙂 It has been a long, stressful, overwhelming, exciting and crazy road, but we are so thrilled to finally say that we are homeowners! I have been dreaming of the day when I can customize, design and put my stamp all over a house and that time has come!! After looking at house after house since the beginning of April, we stumbled upon our 1975 brick ranch, just before I was about to throw the house hunting towel in. The moment I saw it…I knew. Just like I knew when I saw my wedding dress for the first time! I envisioned us in this house, living life, making memories and I immediately had a vision for what it COULD be. One word…POTENTIAL. That is the one word I kept using when we saw the house for the first time! It’s our little diamond in the rough that I cannot wait to shine up and make pretty! It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an unfinished garage room that we want to turn in to something cool and a great big backyard. Now, for some lovely BEFORE photos! Get ready for a lot of not-so-exciting pictures. (we had already started the carpet removal process when I took these photos..) Welcome to our home! View when you open the front door. You walk right into the living room which is open to the dining room. One of the reasons this house caught our attention was this living room. Open concept, vaulted ceilings with beams, amazing natural light and a brick fireplace! Front door View from living room towards the dining room Dining room. Doors lead to backyard. Hallway First bedroom on the left will be the guest bedroom. Nothing exciting here, beige walls, beige carpet..basically a beige box! Haha Hall bathroom is the first door on the right of the hallway complete with gold brass and peel and stick tiles! Last door on the left of the hallway is another bedroom, which, for the time being will be Stephen’s office/music room. **Note: Don’t you love all of the beautiful light fixtures they left for us 😉 View from the bedroom, looking back towards the hallway. Back of the hallway looking back at the living room. Master bedroom is the last door on the right of the hallway. View standing in the master bedroom. Hallway door to the right, closet, and on-suite bathroom..(although I don’t think I would call this a master suite at this point in time) ha! Master bathroom Master shower..eeekkk The kitchen is to the right of the dining room. I love that it has windows above the sink! The whole house has great natural light which is something I look for in a space! Standing in the kitchen, looking back towards the dining room The day after we closed on our house, we were itching to make some progress, so I put Stephen to work! 😉 He ripped out all of the carpet in the living room/dining room/hallway! Such a freeing experience ripping out carpet! Goodbye carpet, please don’t come back! One last view. Probably my favorite view. Standing in the dining room looking back toward the living room. Kitchen to the left and hallway to the right. If you want to follow along with our transformation, I will be sharing the entire process here! xoxo, O
If you haven’t seen yet, I’ve launched a new website http://www.oliviacarswellinteriors.com and I’m very excited about it!
I have the After pictures of the office on my new website in the ‘Portfolio’ tab, but I thought I would share some before and afters with you guys here as well!
Get ready for a lot of pictures!! 🙂
This office was such a fun project for me! I really enjoy watching a space transform from not-so-lovely to beautiful and bright!
I have been SO busy this summer from the office project, to decorating clients/friends homes, to traveling, to house hunting, to getting my hair chopped off haha, to celebrating 4 years of marriage with my sweet man and now my younger sister just got engaged..Yay!! It has been a wonderful summer with many great memories made! Here are a few highlights of my summer in pictures: And why not throw in my latest selfie 🙂 It was an unforgettable summer…now am I allowed to say…I’m ready for FALL!! 🙂 Stay tuned, because my next post will be ‘After’ pictures of the Office! xoxo, O
I will be sharing more photos of the office progress soon…I had a carpet issue/nightmare last week, pushing the move in date a week and a half behind, so I’ve been running around trying to get everything ready! I CANNOT wait for it to be done and to share after photos with you all! Enough about the office…I was hired to accessorize a client’s living room(mainly the built in shelves on either side of the fireplace) and I wanted to share the before’s and after’s.
This family is super sweet and their bookshelves were filled with beautiful family photos…who doesn’t love a good family pic? I still wanted to incorporate some photos, but give the shelves a more “put together” look.
Before (sorry for the not-so-great quality iPhone pictures)
Accessorizing is one of my favorite parts of designing..it’s those little touches in a home that make it all come together!
Stay tuned for Office progress!
Today, I want to share the office project I’m working on with you.
This post will have ALOT of ‘before’ photos so you can get a good idea of how the space looked the first time I saw it. If you think it looks bad in the photos, just imagine it worse, my camera has made it look nicer than it actually is. Haha.
The entrance: the only thing I am able to change out here is the sign. A new one has gone up in place of the Lean Kit sign.
When you walk through the door, you go through the lobby of another company then get to a set of stairs. My job starts at the bottom stair. You are greeted with your first dose of this not-so-lovely red that takes over a lot of the space.
Once you reach the top of stairs, there is a random little area that I am calling the “landing”.
Which leads you to a hallway…
Oh the hallway…the dreaded hallway. Let me give you some words that describe the hallway: dark, dingy, creepy, gross…just ew! Haha. Red and black paint EVERYWHERE!
There are two bathrooms in the hallway. The first is lime green, but shows up more yellow in these photos. In person, it is beyond lime!
The second bathroom is…see if you can guess…yep, you’re right! Red!
When you exit the bathroom, you walk a little further down the hallway…
Then you finally get to the office door(the door on the right)
As soon as you open the office door, you are greeted with a wall that blocks your view of the space.
This is the view to your left.
And your view to the right.
Once you walk around the wall, you are in a big open space with great high ceilings, big windows and cool beams.
Walk past the stairs and step down to another area.
This doorway leads to what will become the conference room.
Foyer to the conference room.
A huge positive to this space and project is that even though it is very rough around the edges it has really good bones! Exposed brick, the beams in the main room and lofts really give this space a cool feel!
This is the room that will become the conference room.
This brick wall is the only thing I don’t have to change in this room 🙂
Weird wall of soundproofing panels.
Leave the conference room and you are back to the foyer.
I know that was a lot to take in, but hopefully now you have an idea of the huge task this office has given me! I am SO excited to see this place transform!
After all of those ugly photos, I want to leave you with an inspiration photo for the space!
Clean, crisp, simple, contrast.
Hey guys! Exciting news…I am designing an office space for a music tour/band!! I am so thankful for the opportunity and I am beyond thrilled to take on this project! I will post before, in the process, and after pictures of the space as things are happening. The ball is starting to roll and I cannot wait to see my vision come to life!
For now, I want to share some inspiration photos with you.
Clean, simple, contrast describes the look I want to create in the office!
By now, you probably have a pretty good idea of what vibe I am trying to create…can’t wait to share the whole process with you!
