Traveling West: Moab, Utah

The last venture I want to share with you from our travels is our experience in Moab, Utah! We got to see some famous sites and go off roading through canyons! It was so amazing, beautiful, fun, scary, and thrilling! We ate breakfast at a little diner, rented a Jeep, and headed towards the canyons!

Image

First, we went to the famous Balancing Rock.

Kissing on top of the rock! MUAH

Then, we made our way to the famous “Window Arches”. The views driving there were absolutely beautiful!

After doing a little sightseeing, we made our way to the off roading trails! I had no idea what was in store…let’s just say it was an incredible experience, but definitely thought I was going to die at certain points haha! We started at the bottom of the canyon land and made our way all the way to the top!

God’s creation truly is indescribable!

It was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience!

We saw and did many things, but this was definitely at the top of the list of favorite things!

Traveling West: Pacific Coast Hwy to LA

Our next venture in our travels from San Francisco was the gorgeous drive down the Pacific Coast Hwy to LA. We left San Francisco around 10 am and got to LA at about 8:30 pm…so it was an all day drive, but so worth it!

I knew right away it was going to be a beautiful drive along the coast!

Image

We made several stops on our drive and the views kept getting prettier and prettier!

Image

Image

This is a famous bridge at Big Sur. It was breathtaking!!

Image

Image

Image

On top of the world! ๐Ÿ™‚

Image

Image

We came upon Piedras Blancas Beach where elephant seals pack the beach in the winter months! It was so cool to see hundreds of seals just laying on the beach!

Image

I caught one yawning ๐Ÿ˜‰

Image

We finally made it to LA around 8:30 pm, ate dinner in Santa Monica, and stayed at a hotel off of Sunset Blvd. The next morning, we were up early ready to see all Hollywood had to offer. We drove through the Hollywood Hills, caught a great view of the skyline, and saw the famous Capitol Records building.

Image

Image

Then, we were on a hunt for the best view of the Hollywood sign and we found it at Griffith Observatory. It was a hiking park and trail that went right by the Hollywood sign, it was pretty cool! We didn’t have time to hike all the way up and weren’t really wearing appropriate hiking clothes, but we got some great shots of the Hollywood sign!

Image

I was just a little excited! Haha

Image

Image

We had a fun and full day driving all around LA. We went to Beverly Hills, walked around Rodeo Dr, stopped by the DASH store(yes, I watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians…don’t judge me haha), went back to Santa Monica, drove the coast to Malibu, and stopped in Calabassas in hopes of a Kardashian sighting…no luck though!

Image

We had an absolute blast driving all around California! It was off to a few show days from there and then back to more exploring! Our next adventure was in Moab, Utah! Stay tuned!

Traveling West: San Francisco

I’m traveling the whole month of November on the West Coast! I have been traveling for a week so far and seen some incredible and beautiful places! I won’t be able to share much in the decor topic this month, so I thought I’d share some photos of our traveling experiences with you along the way.

Stephen and I had both been to California about 10 years ago, but we had never been together. We were excited to go back to the beautiful state and explore it together. We flew in to San Francisco and had about 21 hours to see anything and everything that San Fran had to offer.

First, we took a ride on the trolley from Union Square, where our hotel was located, to Fisherman’s Wharf. It was so fun and I kept singing that song from ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’…Clang, clang, clang went the trolley…ha, I felt like Judy Garland! Anyways, it was a blast and we got to see a lot of the city on the trolley ride.

Image

Image

By the time we got off the trolley, we were starving so we made our way to the famous Buena Vista Cafe.

Image

From there, we walked, walked, and walked some more exploring the streets of San Francisco. I think I squealed with excitement the first time I spotted the Golden Gate Bridge!

Image

Image

Image

We heard an interesting noise as we were walking the pier and came upon a mass of seals. Haha. It was pretty cool!

Image

Image

After our seal sighting we walked for 3 hours up and down the STEEP hills of San Fran.

Image

Stephen at the top of the famous Lumbard St.

Image

The sun was starting to set and we were still walking trying to find our way back to our hotel…eventually we gave up and took a cab the rest of the way ๐Ÿ™‚ We went to eat dinner at a delicious place called Flour + Water, but that was the extent of our night because we were so tired from waking up early, traveling all day and the time difference.

Image

The next morning, we were up at 6:00 without an alarm which if you know me or Stephen at all, you know that is extremely rare…but it was really 9 on our bodies ;). We knew we wanted to get a closer look of the Golden Gate Bridge, but weren’t sure where the best view would be. We started driving and ended up finding a GORGEOUS viewing area! I felt like I was standing inside a postcard!

Image

Image

Image

There was no one around to ask to take a picture of us together, so this is all we could come up with…I still think it turned out pretty cute ๐Ÿ™‚

Image

It was one of my favorite things I’ve ever done to date! Beautiful weather, perfect view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and my love beside me…doesn’t get much better than that! Stay tuned for our next adventure of driving the Pacific Coast Hwy all the way to LA.

Get ready for my second House Crash tomorrow!

Pumpkin Painting

Stephen and I decided to have a little pumpkin painting party for 2. We got our Pumpkin Spice Latte and Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks, put some cinnamon rolls in the oven, put on a Miles Davis record and started painting our little pumpkins! All of those things combined makes for a perfect day!

Here’s the set up.

Image

And the delicious cinnamon rolls fresh out of the oven. Yum!Image

Once we polished off a couple of cinnamon rolls we got right to painting! I chose to do a simple white polka dot pumpkin and a gold and white stripe/dots pumpkin!

Favorite Friday

Today, this Favorite Friday is definitely going to be a little mooshy gooshy because Stephen and I have been together 8 YEARS today!!! We started dating October 25, 2005! Even though we are married now and celebrate our wedding anniversary we still like to remember our dating anniversary. One of the many reasons I love fall so much is that it takes me back to those feelings of young love when we first started dating.

carswell-50

So my Favorite Friday today is ‘Stephen’. I’ve liked the boy since 5th grade and it only took him 7 years to catch on! Haha. We started dating our junior year of highschool, we were 16, and have been together ever since! The Lord really blessed me and truly answered my prayers when he gave me Stephen. He exhibits all of the characteristics of love talked about in 1 Corinthians 13. He is patient, kind, not arrogant or rude, not irritable(sometimes :)) or resentful, and does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth! I am so blessed to be his wife!

So, enough of the moosh, I just want to share a few pictures of our relationship over the last 8 years! How about 8 pictures for 8 years!

The early years…

We’ve been blessed to be able to travel to many places together!

Set the Night on Fire

This blog is mainly about decorating and inspiration for the home, but I will occasionally do posts about life. ย Today will be one of those :). This past weekend I got to go home and see my family! My sisters and I have always bugged my parents about getting a firepit in the backyard and this weekend our wishes came true! There was a slight nip in the air, the sun was starting to set, and it was time to start the fire.

My mom made chili and bought supplies to make smores. I mean, what’s a fall night without chili and smores?

Image

You can never put to much cheese on chili! Yummm

Image

While we were waiting for it to get a little darker outside we lounged on the porch.ย This is Bryan. My sister Emily’s boyfriend.

My wonderful younger sister, Emily.

My lovely older sister, Liz.

Once the fire was a’blazing it was time to make smores!

Every time I make smores I always think of that scene in The Sandlot…anybody else? “Ok, pay attention. First you take the graham, you stick the chocolate on the graham. Then you roast the ‘mallow. When the ‘mallows flaming… you stick it on the chocolate. Then cover with the other end. Then you scarf”!

Sorry I didn’t take any pictures of the smores. I was too busy eating them! It was a great fall night with the family the only thing missing was Stephen, who was out of town for work. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Anyone else relax by a fire and make smores this weekend?
