Exterior ProgressPosted: April 20, 2015
We completed another great tour and survived our first winter in our new (old) house!
Now that cold, dead winter is behind us and we are staring at the face of warm, lively Spring we have been itching to get started on some exterior updates! I would describe the exterior of our house as a very basic, old,1970’s brick ranch with baby blue trim and brass house numbers…such a great combination, right? I have been patient long enough, the time has come to start shining this diamond(in the rough) up.
Here is a picture of the front of the house the first day we saw it:
And the back:
List of exterior updates:
1- Remove hedge of bushes along the brick wall
2- Remove tree on far left side of the house, paneling where garage door used to be, install/brick in a window & install new front door!
Home Depot shopping for the window and front door.

Window in and ready for brick.
In the picture below, the tree is gone, the new front door is in and the window is in. These three updates, though nothing too major, got us super excited for the future look and feel of the house!
She’s a brick….HOUSSEEEE! Ha. The size of the brick matches the rest of the house perfectly, but the color and grout do not since the house is getting painted. We are hoping that it will look like the window was always there once everything is painted!

Soooo much better 🙂
3- Remove old shutters and pressure wash house to get it ready for PAINT!!! I have been waiting for this step since the day I first laid eyes on the house. I have always loved painted brick homes and knew that as soon as weather/time/money permitted, it would be painted…and what color other than my favorite, white! Note: a new roof will definitely be in our future, but for now it’s all about the paint!
Shutters are gone and the house is ready for paint!!! This old house is getting a complete makeover starting today!!! The painting is underway and I am beyond excited to see it completely transform!
Here are a couple more photos of the exterior. Right side of the house:
Just a cute picture of Stephen enjoying the backyard 🙂
I am hoping that the next picture I share of the exterior of our home, will be a beautiful, bright, airy painted white brick home with new gutters, an updated light fixture, new house numbers and fresh landscaping! I cannot wait!
Say goodbye to the 1970s and hello to modern day!
