Every Thursday in November, except for Thanksgiving Thursday, I will be house crashing a few of my friends houses!!! You will get to take a peek into some great spaces, all different in style! Thursday, November 7th will be our first House Crash!
Stephen and I decided to have a little pumpkin painting party for 2. We got our Pumpkin Spice Latte and Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks, put some cinnamon rolls in the oven, put on a Miles Davis record and started painting our little pumpkins! All of those things combined makes for a perfect day!
Here’s the set up.
Once we polished off a couple of cinnamon rolls we got right to painting! I chose to do a simple white polka dot pumpkin and a gold and white stripe/dots pumpkin!
The finished products:
A couple of shots of all 3 together!
And the artists with their masterpieces 🙂
It was super easy and a really fun fall activity to do together! Go get some pumpkins and paint and see what creation you come up with!

Today, this Favorite Friday is definitely going to be a little mooshy gooshy because Stephen and I have been together 8 YEARS today!!! We started dating October 25, 2005! Even though we are married now and celebrate our wedding anniversary we still like to remember our dating anniversary. One of the many reasons I love fall so much is that it takes me back to those feelings of young love when we first started dating.
So my Favorite Friday today is ‘Stephen’. I’ve liked the boy since 5th grade and it only took him 7 years to catch on! Haha. We started dating our junior year of highschool, we were 16, and have been together ever since! The Lord really blessed me and truly answered my prayers when he gave me Stephen. He exhibits all of the characteristics of love talked about in 1 Corinthians 13. He is patient, kind, not arrogant or rude, not irritable(sometimes :)) or resentful, and does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth! I am so blessed to be his wife!
So, enough of the moosh, I just want to share a few pictures of our relationship over the last 8 years! How about 8 pictures for 8 years!
The early years…
We’ve been blessed to be able to travel to many places together!
My sister Emily’s 60s/70s theme skating party.
I promise thats a loving squeeze of the face. Haha.
Times Square. One of my all time favorites.
When he proposed! It was PERFECT!!!
A couple of our engagement photos!
Happiest day of my life 🙂
Us, just last week!
Ok, maybe that was 9 pictures…oh well. I’m so thankful for the man God chose to give me! He’s my favorite 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend! Day 4 of ‘House Tour’ on Monday!
I was having lunch with my sweet friend Chandler, who also has a blog, check it out…and we were talking about decorating and how things come in and out of style. Plaids, matching everything, ornate, traditional, on trend…there are so many ways to decorate. Things can go out of style quickly or linger awhile, but I think there is a decorating style that is timeless. The example I want to share with you of a timeless look is none other than Meg Ryan’s apartment in ‘You’ve Got Mail'(my all time favorite movie). It came out in what…the mid 90’s and her apartment is still adorable.
First of all, the detailing in the molding is beautiful and I also love the floral prints on that wall to the left of her!
Then, her desk, where she sends/receives mail from NY152 🙂 accessorized with fresh flowers, books, and a cute lamp. I love the bookcases…I mean bookcases are always timeless!
Her bedroom! I love the headboard…like I would have it in my house right now!
The cozy other side of her bedroom with pieces that would look great in a home right now!
View of her kitchen! The doors, floors, art on the walls…all so perfect.
I just love her kitchen! That little antique table is so cute!!
Her living room just has a cozy feel. I want to curl up on that couch with a cup of hot tea! And lets not forget the daisies 🙂
I love this scene! Note: the antique bread box under that cute table in her kitchen. Every time I see those at antique stores I want to buy one, but they are always a little too pricey! One day I’ll just have to splurge 🙂
And just for the other You’ve Got Mail lovers…a picture of the best scene in the movie when “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is playing and Tom Hanks yells, “Brinkley”…ahhh! “Don’t cry, Shopgirl. Don’t cry.”
It’s ok to follow trends…we all do, but it’s never a bad idea to incorporate timeless pieces into your decor. Look at Kathleen Kelly, her apartment is still cute after all of these years! 😉
Yep, that’s right…a ‘House Tour Video’ (or should I say apartment video ha) is coming your way very soon! I could have just used my Iphone and posted a video, but the perks of having a husband in the creative world is that I get to take advantage of all of the technology available right at my fingertips! One of mine and my husband’s good friends, Austin, is an amazingly talented videographer and he offered to make my house tour video! Im definitely excited and can’t wait for you to see it!
Stay tuned for the video! Coming soon!
Welcome to Day 3 of House Tour. Today, I would like to welcome you into our kitchen. My favorite thing about the kitchen is that it is open to the dining and living area. I’m not a fan of a closed off kitchen. Who wants to be cooped up in a separate room away from everyone while your cooking? Nobody. I dream of the day when I can customize a kitchen exactly the way I want it with white subway tiles, white upper cabinets, darker painted lower cabinets, marble countertops, stainless steel appliances, amazing light fixtures, the list goes on and on. That is a far off dream, so for now I’m content with our dark cabinets and tan/brown granite countertops that are not quite my personal taste but are very nice. These next 2 photos will give you an idea of what style of kitchen I would love to have one day… The Inspired Room Chris Loves Julia And now, after those beauties, here is my kitchen. Since I’m not a fan of the dark cabinets and countertops I really tried to lighten it up with paint color, white dishes, and other white accessories. We painted the kitchen island a fun navy blue and it really gave the kitchen a point of interest! It looks really blue in the next picture, but the true color is what it looks like in the picture above. So that is our kitchen. I’m still learning my way around it aka trying to cook more at home, so if you have any great recipes feel free to pass them my way! xoxo, O
It’s time for another ‘Favorite Friday’. Today I want to share an album that will always take me back to our first year of marriage. It was our first home together (a small 1 bedroom apartment) that was cozy, inviting, and most excitingly OURS. I remember how exciting it was for us to have this place…the furniture, the towels, the kitchen utensils…everything was ours. We had a new found freedom in marriage and we were loving it! I remember putting this record on, having candles lit, cooking dinner, and waiting for Stephen to get home from work. Any time I listen to this record it always takes me back to that sweet first year of wedded bliss.

One thing I love about music is that it can instantly take you back to a time in life, whether happy or sad. For me, this record will always bring back those feelings of excitement, joy and love as a newlywed.
Stephen’s favorite for today are his Sid Mashburn Wingtips. He worked at Sid Mashburn, a men’s clothing store in Atlanta, for a couple of years and found an appreciation for well made clothing and shoes. Thankfully, he got a discount while working there or else he would have to appreciate the well made pieces from a distance. Haha. He loves these shoes and wears them all the time.
It’s only natural to share a photo of Stephen wearing his favorite shoes 🙂
Do you have any records/albums that you love that instantly take you back to a time in life? Any favorite shoes?
Have a great weekend! Stay tuned for Day 3 of ‘House Tour’ on Monday!
I’ve been wanting to try my hand at stenciling on a canvas to create some personalized art for a while now and just haven’t done it. Well, no more excuses..it was time for me to get my craft on!
Lately, I can’t get enough of the new Hillsong Young & Free album! It’s an amazing worship album and the lyrics are so beautiful! One song in particular called “Lifeline” has been stuck in my head nonstop, so that was my inspiration for this project. The lyrics I used are: “You are my hope, You never let go. Jesus forever, You’ve forgiven my failures”. Such truth in those lyrics! I’m singing it as I type this…But seriously, if you haven’t listened to it you really need to. Here’s a sample you can listen to but the lyrics I used are closer to the end of the song!
So first things first, the supplies:
- Blank Canvas
- Stencil Letters
- Stencil Brushes
- Craft Paint
I used Martha Stewart metallic craft paint in Titanium.
Also, Martha Stewart stencil brushes and letters.
First, I unwrapped my canvas and started planning out where the letters would go. There are ways to stencil more professionally than I did, like making straight lines as a guideline for your letters and taping the letters down as you paint, but I did neither of those. Haha. I just eyeballed it which means it didn’t turn out perfectly, but it turned out pretty good.
Next, dip your stencil brush into the paint making sure there is only a thin layer on the brush.
It was coming out a little messy at first (that’s why I said to make sure there is only a thin layer of paint ;)) because the paint was bleeding through the line of the stencil, but thats what white touch up paint is for, right? As I continued, I used less paint and started understanding how to stencil better.
After about 2 hours of stenciling..what can I say I’m a stenciling ammature, it was time to find a place for my new masterpiece (not really a masterpiece but still a ‘work of art’ :)) I found the perfect spot for it on top of my refrigerator. I always like to decorate the top of my fridge because it’s not cute and needs a little attention 🙂
It didn’t turn our perfect, but I still like it! My first try at stenciling I think i would give myself a B- haha, but you have to start somewhere. Next time I will actually follow the guidelines they give you, but it was fun to just go for it not knowing exactly what I was doing!
Have you ever tried stenciling? Any tips?
